After two great years at Purdue, CHIP Lab has moved to the Social, Decision, and Organizational Sciences area of the Psychology Department at the University of Maryland! We look forward to welcoming new UMD students to the lab, and we also look forward to continuing our collaborations with our student researchers at Purdue as they finish up their exciting projects.

Undergraduate researcher Jackson Murray presented his work as an online research spotlight at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology annual conference! Nate Cheek also gave a talk at the existential psychology preconference, where he received the Innovations in Existential Psychology Research Award from the International Society for the Science of Existential Psychology.
New paper from the lab! Nate Cheek published a paper with Eldar Shafir exploring people's decisions when they are choosing an option versus rejecting an option in Judgment and Decision Making.
Purdue's Fall Undergraduate Research Expo featured poster presentations by undergraduate researchers Sydney Ludwig, Sierra Norris, and Patrick Pannier! Sydney shared her work on the link between seeing choices as moral (i.e., having to do with right vs. wrong) and wanting to make the best choice possible, while Sierra and Patrick shared their work on online representations of sexual harassment contexts.
New paper from the lab! Undergraduate researcher Jackson Murray and Nate Cheek's paper in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin on lay intuitions about adaptation and the belief that people in poverty are less vulnerable to harm than higher-income individuals is now available online.

New paper from the lab! With Bryn Bandt-Law and Stacey Sinclair, Nate Cheek has published a paper showing that people may incorrectly think that lower-income women are less harmed than higher-income by sexual harassment and domestic abuse in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.
