Lab Director
Nathan Cheek is an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Maryland, where he directs CHIP lab. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton University and studies biased beliefs that drive inequalities and how people make sense of their own and others' choices and experiences.

Graduate Student
Kalyn Su is a PhD student in the SDOS program. She holds a BA in psychology from Chapman University. Her research investigates how bias and prejudice reinforce systemic inequities and perpetuate disparities that sustain marginalization. She likes to explore new places, cook and try different recipes, and binge-watch shows.
Research Assistant
Amelie Pessoa is a psychology major with an interest in how processes related to diversity science and social cognition shape our perceptions of the world. Currently, she is interested in biased beliefs about minority group members' resilience to adversity. Outside of the lab, Amelie enjoys traveling, photography, and taking care of plants.
